→ Prior to co-founding Reinova Partners, John worked at Brookfield from 2005–2024 where, most recently, he was Vice Chair of Brookfield’s Infrastructure Group and was a member of the global investment committee for all of Brookfield’s major closed-end and open-ended funds across its infrastructure, energy transition, real estate and private equity strategies. During his career at Brookfield, he had leadership roles in building out several businesses, primarily within Brookfield’s infrastructure group.
→ John joined Brookfield in 2005 and was one of the senior executives that started Brookfield’s infrastructure group in 2007. Initially, John served as Head of North American business development for Brookfield’s infrastructure investment team and as Chief Financial Officer of Brookfield’s infrastructure group, including Chief Financial Officer of Brookfield Infrastructure Partners, its publicly traded fund.
→ Thereafter, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Brookfield’s Property Group, during a time when the business shifted from acquisitions of assets to platforms and where he was on the investment committee of and responsible for asset management of Brookfield’s core-plus, value-add and opportunistic real estate funds.
→ He then returned to Brookfield’s infrastructure and renewable groups. From 2017 to 2020, John served as CEO of a publicly traded portfolio company, TerraForm Power. Thereafter, he built and ran Brookfield’s infrastructure debt business. Under his leadership, the business raised over $4 billion of capital across two closed-end funds and invested in a range of infrastructure and energy transition-related sectors with returns in excess of target levels.
→ Thereafter, he founded Brookfield’s infrastructure structured equity solutions business, hiring its investment team, determining its investment strategy and overseeing its initial investments.
→ Prior to Brookfield, John was active in the power, energy and infrastructure sectors in the United States for most of his career. He started his career in energy in the corporate development and the long-term gas and power contract origination groups at Enron Corp. In 1998, he joined the energy group at Credit Suisse with responsibility for mergers and acquisitions as well as client coverage for financial sponsors focusing on the power and energy sectors.
→ John was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) designation and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard University.
